この博物館について

About This Museum

北海道苫前郡の、日本海に面した小さな集落にある村博物館です。元々は漁師と農家が共同で使った建物で、今は冬の生活道具、古い着物、漁具が展示されています。十二月、室内の炉辺は建物の中心にあり、そこを囲むように展示が配置されています。二重の窓ガラスの外には、重い雪が積もり、海の音が遠くから聞こえます。床は板張りですが、炉辺の周りだけは土間になっており、そこに腰かけると、炭の温もりが伝わります。管理人は地域のお年寄りで、月に二回だけ来館して、展示品の手入れをします。入館料300円は、入口の木箱に入れます。

A village museum in a small settlement on the Sea of Japan in Tomamae, Hokkaido. Originally a shared building used by fishermen and farmers, it now displays winter daily tools, old clothing, and fishing equipment. In December, the hearth anchors the centre of the building, with displays arranged around it. Outside the double-paned windows, heavy snow piles up and the sound of the sea carries from afar. The floor is wooden, but dirt around the hearth; sitting there, you feel the warmth of the charcoal. A local elderly caretaker visits twice a month to maintain the exhibits. The 300-yen admission goes in a wooden box at the entrance.
